· Topic Web 2.0: An Introduction
"Web 2.0" in one of the latest buzzwords in the academic computing! Join Dr. Kevin Crow for a tour of the world according to Web 2.0. Participants in this session will:
1. Learn what is meant by the term Web 2.0
2. How Web 2.0 tools differ from Web 1.0 tools
3. Learn what Web 2.0 tools are being used on today's college campuses
4. Learn where to locate, and how to start using Web 2.0 tools such as WIKI's, Blogs, RSS feeds, and Social Networking Tools

MicroGrade Instructional Workshop (Two Identical Sessions Available)

MicroGrade is a software tool that is capable of scoring assignments, calculating grades, and evaluating student performance. MicroGrade also works with its companion application, WebGrade, to permit students to access their course grades online. In these 3-hour sessions, participants will gain basic skills in utilizing MicroGrade.

These courses are offered through the Harper College Department of Continuing Education. To register for an event please use one of the three methods that are listed below:

Come join us in an informal setting as Blackboard users share tips on how to use Blackboard 7.3. Karen Herold will have demonstrations to share with you; however, you will also be given ample opportunity to ask questions and share how you use the Discussion Board in your course or courses.

This discussion is open to Harper College faculty or staff member who has a uses (or would like to use) Blackboard.

--Off Campus Opportunities --

2008 Illinois Association for Educational Communications and Technology (IAECT) Annual Conference Illinois Association for Educational Communications and Technology.

Date: Friday, September 26, 2008 from 8:30 AM to 4:30 p.m.
Location: Kishwaukee College – Conference Center
Cost: $69 includes conference and IAECT Membership ($20)

Theme: New Learning Strategies for the Learners of Tomorrow
The workshop/conference threads will feature combined keynote speakers, poster sessions, drawings, and workshop presentations. This year’s conference will address learning strategies for the 21st century learner. The conference will have a joint opening invitation and closing session. After the initial opening invitation, there will be three presentation tracks: research and practice, vendor presentations, and graduate student presentations. Speakers will offer practical approaches and tips to help you use 21st century technologies and strategies for facilitating learning in students in P-12 education, higher education, corporate training, and instructional design. The day ends with our “IAECT Drawing.” In addition, there will be a common vendor area for vendor tables, so IAECT participants can talk with vendors.
